Definitely NOT a movie for minor children. I love the series but have a few problems with it. First, every single character is (one or all these traits) dishonest, vile, criminal, sex-addict, violent, greedy, ambitious. The authors took so many liberties it is hard to list them all. In the case of Atia, mother of Octavian (later Augustus), it is known that she was a very moral woman--just read Suetonius. Cleopatra was of Greek extract--the Ptolemies being Greek--so I cannot imagine her walking around in Egyptian garb. (And couldn't they find someone better looking to play her part?!) Cesarion, it seems, was around 16 years of age when Augustus had him killed. Antony had a son by a first wife--that Augustus also had killed--not shown in the movie. I often wonder if Rome was really the filthy slum modern movies like to depict it... (Published again 7/2/2012)
