I still can't believe a man wrote something so insightful about like, the Fate of Womankind as em forster did in a room with a view in like, chapter four or something? I really expected more time to get into the story before my guy edward morgan hit me with BUT ALAS, THE CREATURE GROWS DEGENERATE. it sure does, edward! anyway this book says more about the nature of love, women's rights, social class differences, and the curious nuances of human interaction in 196 pages than most authors could manage in a thousand. plus it's fast-moving, clever, light-hearted, full of beautiful imagery, and often hilarious. read this instead of reading tolstoy or something. a solid 40% of anna karenina is just about farming, and that was supposed to be the steamy one.
