I am a huge fan of The Band for a long time.this is one of the greatest concerts ever recorded .The Band was and is one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever in the history of music. you had 3 gifted lead singers drummer Levon Helm bass player Rick Danko and the amazing Richard Manuel on piano and the great guitar playing of Robbie Robertson and the piano organ sax and many other instruments played by Garth Hudson .this concert has most of the best known songs by The Band and plenty of guests some included Neil Young Bob Dylan Joni Mitchell etc. and a disc of new tracks at the time of the film . songs include Stagefright Shape I'm In Ophelia Up On Cripple Creek and Evangeline with Emmy Lou Harris on backing vocals. great song .reccomended for any fan of The Band or anyone getting into them for the first time you will love the show!
The Last Waltz was the Band's last concert. It was a concert that can never be repeated,. It was a historic time in music, some of our great blues men were still performing like Muddy Waters. The roster on the package describes the list as "Mammoth" and I agree. This is a 4 CD set. Two CD's of the concert and two with the same concert played with voice overs of the band members telling about the acts on stage. The Last Waltz needs a Six Star Rating or some note that shows "Quite Possibly The Best Rock Concert Ever Staged in the United States!"
when they say in the film "this film must be played loud" they aren't kidding. if you don't you can't hear what robbie robertson or rick danko are saying then the music blast you out of the room.
Marty and the Band need I say more
