What a breath-taking commentary! The brief prose is what you would expect from an animal-lover; but the true power of this book comes from the photos. Anyone, who has ever loved an animal, will see the intelligence, the pathos, these dogs communicate to the camera. They seem to know that their survival is entirely dependent on our whim. They are so unique and hopeful. Pick it up, along with a box of tissues. It isn't likely you'll make it through the last few pages without them.

I'm a cat person, but I loved this book. If you are thinking of adopting, know somebody who is, or would like a great coffee table book for a couple of weeks, this is it! The dogs are beautifully captured and presented in B&W. If you want to know the status of the animal, there are a few pages at the back where can find out. Please adopt a rescued animal from a shelter - or even better - a local rescue group!
