She also examines how Davies' playwritinghas been influenced by the dominant tastes of his time and by theconditions under which his plays have been performed. Dealing with theplays chronologically, Stone-Blackburn reveals Davies' fondness fortheatricality as opposed to realism, for mythic flavour and archetypalcharacter, his romanticism, and his irrepressible humour.
