A labor of love. Written with a sense of humor, it is one of my favorite books.

I agree with both earlier comments. Mushroom Demystified (MD - the commonly accepted abbreviation) is one of the two or three core resources to mushroom identification. The first (in my opinion) is the "National Audubon Society Field Guide to North America".

This is the Mushroom Bible. Not usable as a field-guide (it's a nice brick) but simply a must have for any shroom lover
