It's The Cars and their Complete Greatest Hits, so it has to be great. There are so many excellent songs here. Having said that, I still prefer their earlier, apparently incomplete Greatest Hits. With the exception of "Heartbeat City," all of the songs from that CD are included here. Sometimes when you strive for comprehensiveness with an album, you sacrifice some strength and, in this case, some catchiness. "Bye Bye Love" is my favorite of the additional songs in this complete collection.
Originating in Boston (in 1976), The Cars were a quartet of pretty hip dudes who emerged onto the "New Wave" pop scene at the end of the 1970s.
With their distinctive synth-pop sound (which was generously punctuated by catchy lyrics and up-tempo rhythms), The Cars scored a string of #1 hits that received plenty of heavy airplay throughout the 1980s.
The clean, no-nonsense sound of The Cars' unique music style can be directly credited to their lead guitarist/vocalist, Ric Ocasek, who single-handedly wrote almost all of the band's songs, himself.
This "Greatest Hits" CD contains 20, finger-snapping tracks from The Cars' 6 studio albums which were released between 1978-1987. Four of my very favourite tunes from this compilation are - Drive, Shake It Up, My Best Friend's Girl, and You Might Think.
*Trivia Note* - Ric Ocasek's father was a computer analyst for NASA.
