This is a terrific series. Not quite up to Sharpe but a close second. Nate Starbuck is the classic Cornwell fish out of water. A well to do Northerner who finds himself fighting with farmers and clerks to defend the South. As always with Cornwell, a great story, well told with with excellent attention to historical detail.

Set during the American Civil War, follows the confrontation of North against South.
Be prepared for battle scenes and gore. Historically accurate, Cornwell likes to tell it like it was.
