Not If I Save You First is a great book! It is one of my favorites, and takes you on the adventure of how a girl, Maddie, has to survive and save her old friend Logan while bearing the dangers of Alaska. As they fight against the wilderness, whether, and even other people to survive, they also develop their friendship along the way. At the beginning/end of the chapters, it includes letters that Maddie wrote to Logan, which really shows how she felt while living in Alaska and her desire for him to reach out to her. The development of their relationship as the book progresses is very interesting to read about, so I recommend recommend this to anyone that likes to read about adventure and a little teen romance. I don't think that there is anything that I disliked about the book since it's my favorite, if anything, I wish there was a sequel!

Not If I Save You First is the story of Maddie (Mad Dog) Manchester whose father is the head of the President's Secret Service detail. At the beginning of the book, Maddie's father is shot when he saves the First Lady from a Russian kidnapping attempt. In the same incident, the President's son, Logan, is also shot. Then the story shifts to Alaska where Maddie and her father have taken up residence. Logan is being shipped there by his parents because he has had a tendency to give his Secret Service security detail the slip.

There are parts of this story that I do like. At the beginning of each chapter, we get to read the letters that Maddie has written to Logan, all of which have gone unanswered, as they become more and more sarcastic. Some parts of the story, however, especially after Logan arrives in Alaska, stretch believability beyond the limit. Carter is known for her stories that develop a teenage team that readers get to watch steal or spy. Believability isn't necessary in those stories, but this one is meant to be more realistic. Otherwise this is a good story built on the loneliness of the two main characters and the distinctive skills that they have developed in the six years they have been apart. Overall an enjoyable read.

Such an amazing book! I loved it! Definitely one of my favorite books I have read this year. The plot and details the author provides are awesome! Many plot twists and so much suspense makes this a book I couldn't put down while reading.

Her father is a former secret service agent who relocates with Maddie to Alaska from D. C. She left her entire world behind, including her best friend Logan. She's learned a few things about survival in the elements, and from wild animals.

Fast forward 6 years, Logan reappears in her life, looking incredibly handsome, but also looking like the biggest jerk because he's never written her back. Maddie wants to kill him, but . . . someone is out to kidnap Logan first.

I loved this book (along with every other book Ally Carter has written). It is fun and faced paced and sure to have you on the edge of your seat and laughing at the same time. Maddie is strong and witty and a great character. You should definitely read this, along with all of Ally's other books.

This was my first Ally Carter book, but it certainly won't be my last! If I wasn't laughing then I was on the edge of my seat! I really didn't think that I would enjoy this book, I read it because it was on the Lone Star list, I'm so glad I was wrong. The main character is a young, strong, resourcefully girl and it is her mission to save her old best friend from Russian assassins and the Alaskan wilderness. Highly recommend to teens who enjoy action, comedy, and a little bit of romance.

I recently read the book Not If I Save You First, by Ally Carter. This book was very different than I expected. The friendship between Maddie and Logan is so special. This book included lots of different problems and adventures. Maddie's character was my favorite because throughout the whole book she was always determined to get things done and to never give up. She was never scared or frightened of the situations she and Logan were in, and she always knew what to do. Logan on the other hand is really smart and dumb at the same time. They both had lots of chemistry throughout the book which made it really special. The age group I'd recommend this book to would be 13 years and up. I rate this book a 3/5.

Logan and Maddie used to be best friends, until one accident at the White House that left them separated and torn. Logan’s father, the president and Maddie’s father a secret service agent thought it would be best to go separate ways. Now, Maddie is living in the middle of Alaska, with nobody within a twenty mile radius except her father. One day, Logan shows up and Maddie is angry, why hasn't he tried to contact her. Then an Assailant shows up and Logan and Maddie are in trouble. This book was a good read, however some parts of the book were not clear enough, meaning I needed to constantly re-read passages. The book was interesting enough that I kept reading it through. “Not If I save you First” also teaches you a lot about the lifestyle in Alaska. I would recommend this book for anyone over thirteen. Rating- 3.5/5.

It was a good book, not one of my favourites. But it was an easy read. I liked Maddie's character and resourcefulness.

I dare you to put this book down! I read it in one night, the suspense was so thrilling and Maddie's survival skills were compelling. I loved that she was such a strong female protagonist and that her anger and compassion combined with knowledge and wit helped them survive in intense winter weather conditions under the threat of terrorism. Espionage, romance, unpredictable plots twists -- this book will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
