I liked the really vivid description of OCD and how anxiety feels and operates in one's brain. My downgrade of one star is for a really petty reason, that being that the main trigger of the boys obsessive thoughts is alluded to for most of the book but not given to the reader until pretty close to the end and that drove me nuts.

Definitely a worthwhile mystery for readers who enjoy whodunits, a kind of lighthearted "Rear Window" for kids and families (but don't worry, there is no murder). Matthew's OCD behaviors, and topics like bullying and grief, are also woven into the story, creating easy talking points for book club, classroom, or family discussions.

There is a lot going on in this story--so much to keep you on edge! A young boy dealing with OCD and the loss of his brother all while trying to figure out what happened to his neighbor who has been taken. He is determined to solve the case with his new-found friend, and the friendship and family dynamics of this book are so fantastic!

Wow--this book kept me guessing. I loved Matthew's character and I was so glad to see OCD addressed in this fabulous middle grade novel. I think this novel would be a great family book to read together.
