I love sci-fi, but did not enjoy this at all. I should have known when it abruptly switched from drunk teenagers shaking their fists at the sky, to an episode of "Wagon Train", & quit then. Absurd basis for the "mecha" & tech, long, drawn-out fighting ad nauseum, ridiculous character abilities, & altogether unpleasant. Don't waste your time on this one.

Although the story moves slowly at times, the strong character development and imagery is more than enough to recommend this book.

There's a very creative idea at the heart of this novel, but also a lot of unnecessary and confusing jargon, too-slow reveal of plot, and overly complicated imaginary science. At times the author seems so determined to impress the reader with his creativity, he loses track of the need to tell a coherent story.
