A SundanceTV series starring Michael K. Williams ( The Wire ), James Purefoy ( Rome ), and Christina Hendricks ( Mad Men ).

Hap and Leonard have never fit the profile. Hap Collins looks like a good 'ol boy, but his liberal politics don't match. After a number of failed careers, Hap has found his calling: kicking ass.

Vietnam veteran Leonard Pine is even more complicated: black, conservative, gay...and an occasional arsonist. With Leonard on the job, small-time crooks all on the way on up to the Dixie Mafia had best be extremely nervous.

Joe R. Lansdale's popular Texan crime-fighting duo are immortalized in this complete collection of Hap and Leonard short stories and tall tales. Additionally, you'll find one brand-new story and an original introduction by New York Times bestselling author Michael Koryta ( So Cold the River ).

(Wanted to give this 5 stars but web page wouldn't permit me.)
The adventures of Hap & Leonard are absolutely hilarious. The other characters in these stories just add icing to the cake. By accident I stumbled onto my 1st Hap & Leonard novel and cannot get enough of them. With the exception of 1 story in this book your belly will ache from laughter. You'll never regret picking up one of Mr. Lansdale's novels.
The short story in this book, "The Boy Who Became Invisible," is one of the most powerful 5 pages I've every read. The ending hit me hard in the heart. This 60's scenario is a true reflection of the bullying and school shootings that happen today. Wouldn't hurt for this story to be required reading for all middle and high school students.

I am 5 pages in on the first story and had to take a break to give my breath a chance to recover: never have I laughed so hard, not at one smart mouthed character, but at all characters with their individual takes on the first incident to their reactions to the crime scene pictures. Anyone remember Patrick Dennis and his two Auntie Mame novels? Dennis doesn't hold a candle to this guy.
