This is a fine, comprehensive book.
Schama is a good writer and knows his stuff. He tells a good story. (I gather that this book is the echo of a PBS series.)
My main complaint about the book is that it has far too few maps and that the maps and royal family tree are not indexed in any way. They are impossible to find again, unless you have placemarked them. There are lots of illustrations, but they are just window dressing, in my opinion.
