Informative and visually exciting, this book is your complete guide to bears. Kevin Van Tighem draws from his considerable firsthand experience with bears to describe their habitat, family life and behaviour, as well as the way they are perceived in human culture and the ecological forces that make this great species' survival ever more precarious. This is a comprehensive picture of bears of all kinds, promotion a deeper understanding of these powerful yet vulnerable creatures.

Kevin's book should dispel much fear and many myths about bears. Not sure why he included the myth about Davy Crockett, but I guess it filled up the pages. More serious are two errors of scale. Male polar bears are one-fourth bigger than the females, not four times bigger. And commercial bear spray in Canada is 1.0% strength, not 10% (which is reserved for law enforcement).
Bears rule, and they need all the help they can get.
