Jane is a very good girl. But #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz shows that appearances can be deceiving--in a deadly way...

She appears out of nowhere, a beautiful teenage girl in the middle of traffic on a busy day. Paul and Carol Tracy are drawn to her--she's the child they never thought they could have. But then Carol's nightmares begin--the ghastly sounds in the night...the bloody face in the mirror...the razor-sharp ax.

Jane can't remember her past. And as Carol attempts to help her uncover who she was, she has no idea of the horrors that await...

A disappointing read..The "build up" was really scattered and could predict the outcome. Quite disjointed though I did read it to the end.

In my opinion, this was a good read. It was really nice seeing how the story came together! The releasing of some clues here and there made the book seem like a mystery story. It was nice finding out who the girl Carol ran over was. It was a good twist. I wish they added another chapter explaining what happened next.

This is quite possibly the worst book I’ve ever read. The foreboding imagery is so thick that you choke on it. The premise is so silly that you hope terrible things happen to the characters. The explanations are so bad that you wish you can erase all memory of this book from your brain. I don’t know if any of Koontz books are better, but this one book was enough to turn me off him for good. Read at your own peril.
