For the filly Estrella, nothing is more precious than freedom. She was born at sea, chattel to men sailing to the New World in search of gold. But Estrella and her herd escaped the conquerors and embarked on a journey across thousands of miles -- braving harsh terrains and fierce predators -- to a land where they can finally run wild. But now, an unforeseen danger threatens to destroy the pack. A boy with a special gift is lost in the wilderness, and only the horses can keep him alive. But to save the boy, the herd will have to abandon their quest, and risk galloping straight back into the hands-and harnesses- of their captors. And so, it's up to Estrella, the herd's unlikely leader, to make a life-changing decision. Should the horses accept the orphan boy as one of their own? How do you choose between freedom and friendship?

I haven't read this book yet, but I am really excited to! Kathryn Lasky has written a third series called Bears of Ice (Or is that the fourth?). I started reading that series, the Library has it. I just don't don't think anyone has noticed it. The wolves of the beyond are all awesome, and I am reading them for the second time, I don't remember most of them. I LOVE guardians of Ga'hoole, and wolves of the beyond. Next to Shannon Messenger, she is my favorite author.

This is actually better than both other series. I love horses, but its not that. It just seems to make more sense and has more adventure.

Compared to the other two series that Kathryn Lasky wrote, this is not so great. maybe because there is nothing special about these horses compared to the other series where there is something different about the animals then normal

This is a really good book. Read the first on the escape to understand this one. Hold'on is blind but alive. There's a boy that is crippled and no one in his village liked him except for one lady. He's the only one the herd will let ride them. Hold'on can gallope and won't run into something because the boy rides him and are his eyes
