A great feel good movie. I have always loved football movies but this one is my favorite. It has a great story and message that can appeal to people of all walks of life. You will cheer, laugh, cry and above all learn that nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself.

This is a Christian message driven film. My choosing it was more interest in the football aspect.
I have no qualm about the intent, but the weight of delivery here isn't gentle.
Predisposition to method and the message, will likely help enjoyment.
Likeable folk, finding comfort and fulfillment. Fair enough!

This is the independent film, made by a church using one camera, that succeeded anyway. What's "Facing the Giants"? It's about football and life. A failing coach, inspired to continue, changes course and decides that maybe winning football games isn't enough. They choose to play for the God, instead. A fine family film. Rated PG, likely for its theme of infertiity. If you don't watch football or even like football, you may still like this movie. Languages are English, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, and and French. Subtitles in all those languages, plus Chinese.

In the story of David and Goliath, the shepherd boy David took on the giant Goliath--and, using a slingshot, took that giant down. On the surface, this movie is about football, a losing team. It's about getting priorites straight, and fighting for what makes a difference. But this film is also about the giants of our lives that we all face: fear of failure, situations that seem too tough to ever improve. It's about not quitting, not giving in to defeat. It's about life and hope. Featuring an interesting background commentary as one of its Special Features, you can hear about some of the challenges faced just in the making of this independent film. The doctor? They had no professional actor, so they used a real doctor. That shot from up high? They had no camera crane so they used a construction crane instead. This film was made by some people who wanted something decent and better than much of what's out there--something they'd like to watch themselves. They all pitched in together, and the result is one of the best football movies ever made. More than that--it's a great one for those who dislike football. Somebody who hates football may find it's not so bad after all. Fellows: this is a movie you can watch with your wife or girlfriend, and there's a very good chance she will like it. Because in some ways, we're all David's who've got our own Goliaths, and because of that, there's no one who can't gain something from watching this film. A great one for eating some pizza with and have a great enjoyable evening watching a movie you will remember. Valuable. Because like the film says, "We're not here just to get glory, make money and die." It's a shot in the arm (of the good kind) for anyone who'd like to see something uplifting.
