Nice big overview of the superhero phenomenon, beginning in the comics with Superman and Batman, and covering their (fictional) involvement in WWII, the governmental attempts to get rid of (or at least harshly censor) them in the 1950s, up to today's flowering in both the underground and in mainstream movie blockbusters. Also, parallels the three-part PBS series on DVD, simply called "Superheroes."
