The second installment of the Odyssey of a Slave. This novel keeps up the pace from the first one. Alexi is still aboard the Pelagios with all the same crew members. Ury is still causing Alexi many problems. The novel starts of with the crew going to an island to restock their ship when Lopex was given a gift from the king to help them get home. When Ury causes the gift to malfunction, he blames it on Alexi. Therefore, Alexi loses Lopex's trust. As an added problem destroying the king's gift made the ship go back to the king's island. As they go back they meet countless perils along their journey.
Now as for the title of this novel, it's called "Cursed By The Sea God" because in the previous novel in the series, a cyclops whom the crew blinded, cursed the crew on the name of Poseidon who happens to be the sea god. I believe that the author very cleverly called the novel this title because he wanted the readers to know how they were cursed, so they will have to read the first book in the series.
This novel definitely lives up to the first novel in the series. This novel also has just as much action and character development as the first one. Not only did the characters keep developing from where they left off in the first novel, but we also found out some new information about the characters. This novel kept me wanting to reading after every new chapter i rate this novel a 4 out of 5.
