"Chaos is coming, old son." With those words the peace of Three Pines is shattered. As families prepare to head back to the city and children say goodbye to summer, a stranger is found murdered in the village bistro and antiques store. Once again, Chief Inspector Gamache and his team are called in to strip back layers of lies, exposing both treasures and rancid secrets buried in the wilderness.

This one was very good - and harder for me to listen to. I didn't want the direction it was going in; and really, this book didn't end but continued into the next one BURY YOUR DEAD. Olivier can not seem to stop lying and that is his downfall... These are great books that are less about the murder and more about the relationships and bonds that are between people - and when they break. It's about contemplation and deep thoughts on the human condition. There are great differences between the investigative team members and how they process the clues, but still work together. It's similar to the people that live in this little village.
