Provides a perspective on WW2 that many people would have never thought or cared about. Definitely recommend.

must-read for both children and adults. Specially, those North Americans who have no idea what war is.

Artist and author Tomi Ungerer was eight years old in 1940 when the Nazis marched into his native Alsace, France. For the next five years his young life would be dominated by Nazi doctrine as the German occupation dominated the lives of the Alsatian people. This memoir is wonderfully illustrated with the rustic drawings of the observant author, propaganda posters, official documents, and photographs.
