When a new TV crime series recruits Jonathan's specialist skills, he is reunited with his ex-girlfriend and old sparring partner, Carla Borrego. Carla is pushy and an equally determined amateur detective, and she has no intention of playing Watson to his disheveled, laid-back Sherlock.

I agree the show has gone way downhill since Carolyn Quentin left the show. I used to love this show Seasons 1-3. The replacement blonde bimbo is a hollow stereotype without a brain. She doesn't figure out anything until Jonathan explains it as they make a tired point of pointing out every episode. She contributes nothing to the show except a big rack.

Maddie (Seasons 1-3) was a well-rounded character with her own thoughts as well as a crush on Jonathan. Her crush on him was an amusing side story during Seasons 1-3, but she still had her own unique identity and said and did things beyond the predictable new side kick, Carla.

Maybe the writers have changed also? There are no characters of dimension or intelligence besides Jonathan. I was disappointed in the first 3 episodes of Season 4 to see much less of its former wit and charm. I'm not sure I'm enthused enough to watch episodes 4-6 that also came in this 2 DVD set.

Once Jonathan and Maddie get famous and she (Quentin) leaves the show, this series goes downhill. It seems self indulgent and down right silly. Skip season 4. You wont be missing anything

Worst thing the series did was let go Caroline Quentin.

Entertaining, good show. Some of the solutions to the mysteries were a bit of a stretch. Still, it was intriguing, humorous, and watchable.
