This book was a refreshing read with an interesting heroine. The character, Prudence, made the book really special. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in science or historical fiction. 5 stars!!!

chibarro's first book is much better and a more difficult read. The author meant for it to be an adult book, but there are a couple of reasons that makes a juvenile book. Unfortunately, BPL seems to no longer have it. The name of it is REDEMPTION and therefor impossible to find by title,

This book was actually ok - but idk I like books with a meaning and lots of actions behind it, and this one didn't really have a plot. Idk if I'm the only person who thinks that but tht's my opinon. This book should have a sequel! Anyways, I rlly loved the drawings in this bk - and it definitely got me to keep reading until the end xD But too many unanswered questions for me - so I didn't like this book too much.

Prudence Galewiski, a sixteen year old woman in the early 20th century, is much smarter, much better, and has more ambition than most of the women of the century. She doesn't fascinate in 'proper manners' and gaining the typical professions women receive. Instead, she's interested in science, anatomy, hygiene, and how everything works in the human body. Hired by a Sanitary Engineer in the Department of Health and Sanitation, she is introduced to a fascinating world of microscopic bacteria and viruses, full of complications and wonder. Mr. George Soper, her chief, had just discovered a mysterious case of typhoid fever, where the entire household of a wealthy family gotten it around the same time. The trail leads them to numerous households, before realizing that all of them had an Irish housekeeper and cook, called Mary. Mary is a healthy person, but she seemed to carry the virus inside of her. Clueless to why, the two of them follow her and finally locates her in the house she is currently working at, and is taken by the police, as Mr. Soper and his crew test her fluids. However, Prudence seems to develop a connection with Mary, and although Mary had to live in a reserved hospital area for the rest of her life, Prudence promises to become a doctor and solve the reason to why healthy people can carry diseases too.

I had come to her with the intention of finding answers, instead I felt even more confused. She said I had the ability to become a doctor. But I didn't know if I had the heart.
