was not as funny as previous books. content follows a serious story line, adultery, divorce, death.

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. Apparently, it also exists in the small town of Frog Point, where the plot of " Tell Me Lies " takes place. I thought the main character Maddie lived in denial to the point of stupidity. She's so worried what her mother and the nosy townspeople will think of her, that she behaves like a spineless doormat. I kept waiting for her to grow a backbone and stand-up for herself ( which she does eventually, although it was a slow development). Especially, when she ends up the prime suspect in the death of her lying, cheating husband.

Was a little frustrating towards the middle of the book and almost welcomed the new development regarding Brent as it helped bring things out in the open. I felt the writing was a little choppy at times and it wasn't as funny as I was expecting it to be. I'm starting to see a pattern here in her books with the main couple and a sensible child but she gives each character enough time for development to make them enjoyable.

Enjoyed the book, loved the romance plot. Wasn't expecting murder in the plot though...

This award-winner has mystery, romance, and comedy with well-developed characters and plot. It's set in Frog's Point, OH, where some can't imagine leaving, and others can't wait to leave--which causes lies about infidelity, spousal abuse, fraud, blackmail, embezzlement, and murder. Despite the dark aspects Crusie brings light to her work.

I found that this particular book dragged in a lot of places and it took a while to get to the main points of the plot. The beginning is intended to introduce the reader to the characters in the novel ... however, the beginning of this book was dull, dry, and typical. There is a semi-twist near the end but nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.

It isn''t until later that Maddie realizes that you don''t have to take your panties off to have sex when your panties are crotch-less! So what the heck are those black lace panties doing under the seat of her husband''s car? And when her hunky old high school boyfriend turns up, she wants to turn the tables on her hubby. However this is when her husband decides to pull a disappearing act that has everyone in town gossiping. What happens next is something you will have to read to find out!
