Classic Led Zeppelin album with killer tracks including " Dazed and Confused ".
This is an excellent Zeppelin album- it's a great listen all the way through.
Bulls-eye for Led Zeppelin IV - Besides "Stairway to Heaven" - I also like "The Battle Of Evermore" and "Misty Mountain Hop", too.
This is a 2-disc set that offers the listener remixes of most of this album's 8 tracks.
The first and definitely one of the best from Britain's #1, heavy-metal rockers, Led Zeppelin.
Jumpinjackflash, go back and take a class in Rock 'n' Roll basics. Led Zeppelin's self-titled first album has the crash of the Hindenburg on the cover. mmj2k, LZ IV (Untitled) has a painting of an old man with a bundle of wood tied to his back on the cover. Check it out and dig the tunes.
Whenever I hear Misty Mountain Hop it sounds like Robert Plant sings (hey buddy do you want a scone?)
My mom used to make excellent Blueberry scones !
Simply the greatest rock band of all time!!!
starting point for heavy metal
Page's heavy guitar playing (rooted in blues with elements of the eastern music), Plant's use of high pitched shrieks and sexy wailings, Bonham's powerful drumming with those rapid rolls and fast beats plus Jones' melodic bass and classical touch on the keyboards made this guitar driven album a benchmark in rock music. There’s no other substitute.
Without a doubt, Zoso id the best album of all time. The first three Hammer of the Gods albums were incredible. But it all came together on the IVth. & Rock 'n' Roll's bar was lifted all the way to Heaven & beyond. If you're unfamiliar with Jimmy, Robert, John Paul & John Bonham, you're about to have your mind blown to smithereens. Every song a classic that holds up today as powerfully as it did when we first heard them. Special thank to Jimmy for remastering & reissuing the Led Zeppelin catalog in it's original format with some incredible extra features. These reissues are the place to start. They sound remarkable. & thank you SPL for adding the Zep reissues to your incredible music collection. Now I must go Get the led Out! Rock On Dudes. Enjoy.
(Lyrics excerpt) - "Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow?... And did you know - Your stairway lies on the whispering wind...."
There can be no denying that Led Zeppelin's 4th album (the one that officially remains unnamed) was, without a doubt, a powerhouse collaboration between 4 very talented, young musicians who understood exactly what their audience wanted to hear.
This is the album that firmly cemented Led Zeppelin's superstar status as being one of the most influential metal bands of their era.
Released in 1971 - Led Zeppelin IV (as of 2006) has sold close to 40 million copies, worldwide, and it has gone platinum 23 times, as well.... It is considered by many to be the greatest heavy metal album of all time.
(I'd say that's pretty impressive when you take into account that #4 is, in fact, now over 40 years old)
Out of the 8 tracks on this CD, 3 of my very favorite are - Four Sticks, Battle Of Evermore, and, of course, Stairway To Heaven.
I know that this might actually be hard to believe (but it's true) - When Led Zeppelin 1 was first released in the early Spring of 1969, the critics (on both sides of the Atlantic) slammed it, big-time. These opinionated jerks even went so far as to say that, as a band, Led Zeppelin were nothing more than a flash in the pan. (Ha! Isn't that just too funny for words?)
Well, as we all know - These heavy-metal rockers from the UK certainly proved the critics to be dead-wrong as they quickly soared into pop music heaven and became the undisputed, reigning Kings of hard-driving rock-n-roll for nearly a full decade.
To say that Led Zeppelin 1 was one of the finest debut albums ever released would truly be a gross understatement, This lp was/is, without question, a bona-fide classic in every sense of the word.
With its easily recognizable record-jacket of the Hindenburg airship catching fire, this CD contains the 9 original, remastered tracks, featuring Led Zeppelin at their very best.
Three of my very favorite tunes are - You Shook Me, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, and Communication Breakdown.
Dear Library Staff:
When i request a hold for the 2014 remastered version of this CD please don't give me the 1969 version again!
The entry for this CD should be Led Zeppelin IV so as not to confuse it with the first Led Zep album.
Dear library staff-
Please buy more copies of this classic album !!!
I am number 95 waiting in line....
