There is one illustration, though well done, might be too scary for small children. ( ..at least it would’ve been for me as a kid ) Gives a decent rendering of the Vasilisa tale of the Baba Yaga saga. The little dolls Rumpelstilskin-ish abilities was a highlight for me.There is one illustration, though well done, might be too scary for small children. Imaginative, well written, taken as fiction. But I'm of the group that doesn't believe authors non-fiction claim.
This will be the only book of Castaneda's I read.

Dersu Uzala is a fascinating character I first learned of in 'The Tiger: a true story of vengeance and survival' by B.C. author John Vailant , which is a way better read than Arseniev's repetitious narrative. Die-hard Dersu fans will find gems of insight as to his extraordinary tracking skills if they patiently 'bore' (I pun. Ha.) Their way through (yes, ol' V.K. is 'boring'.) I found myself crawling over each page at a snails pace not wanting to miss the glitters of brilliance it does have. Difficult reading. But invaluable for learning more about someone so intriguing and mysterious.Dersu Uzala is a fascinating character I first learned of in 'The Tiger: a true story of vengeance and survival' by B.C. author John Vailant , which is a way better read than Arseniev's repetitious narrative.
